VINTAGE SOLID WOOD EXECUTIVE DESK - ONCE OWNED BY INDIANA GOVERNOR - Price: 1000 in Fort Wayne, Indiana

This fabulous vintage executive desk is constructed of solid wood and is in excellent used condition! It belonged to my great uncle, Indiana Governor Ralph F. Gates (xxxx-49).  He used it in his law office until he passed it down to my father.  It has been well taken care of in a temperature-controlled environment.  Unlike the plywood self-assembled desks of today (which often cost more), the drawers of this desk are made with hand cut dovetails, a sign of high quality craftsmanship and attention to detail.  We are only selling this desk because we are moving and have limited space.  This desk is BIG and will require a few strong people to move it!  The desk comes in two pieces. The desk top surface is about 77? (L) x 42 ½? (W) x 1 ½? (H) and can be moved separately. The base of the desk measures 58? (L) x 33? (W) x 29 ½? (H - with top on).  The top fits onto four standing ?posts? to keep it centered and secured to the base.  This desk also features pull out writing areas above the drawers on both sides to provide additional desk top space.  There is plenty of storage space in this desk! All side drawers are 26 ½? long (27 ½? counting the handles) x 14 ½? wide.  The top drawers on both sides are 3 ¼? deep. The left side also features 3 drawers measuring 5? in depth each. The right side of the desk has an 11? deep adjustable file drawer and a standard 5? deep drawer on the bottom.  All of these drawers have removable dividers.  The drawer in the middle of the desk is 23 ½? long x 4? deep.  There is plenty of room for a swivel chair or armchair.  This is truly a rare well-constructed desk that also has a great history!
